| GOB is to remain at Wire, I had heard he was linked to Hull KR. Seems we've had a change of mind.
He played pretty well v Hudds too.
I bet him 1st try scorer as we'll, gonna collect now!

| He drifted out of the game last night but then really came alive during the comeback and showed great awareness with his kicking.
Head and shoulders above Myler.

| I can't make my mind up on him. Plays well sometimes, then average, then poor, and can be all three in one game. It's something I'd expect from a 17 or 18 year old.

| Firstly, I think we have to try and stop comparing our current playmakers with Briers. Lee was the last of the species - the all-round, impulsive, maverick genius British half-backs and the end of the lineage that gave us Murphy, Woods & Andy Gregory. They aren't coming back, we might as well yearn for a return to contested scrums.
I don't think there's a SL club in existence who wouldn't swop their current half-backs for at least one from the last 10 years but life, coaching, the game, the demands and requirements have moved on. The game is worse for it, but there we are.
With Gareth, I think he is still sufferring from several seasons of being the bridesmaid never the bride. I suspect he doesn't yet have the confidence to vocally boss the team, but in terms of his raw skills they are improving. I thought his kicking game last night was easily the equal of Brough, which is praise indeed. Alongside an experienced, mongrel of a passing half I think GOB will flourish.
As for Myler, I don't quite get it. He has all the facets needed to be a really good half-back, is at his prime physically, has the experience but his body language for me screams "APATHY". He looks like he's had botox of the soul and shows all the urgency of an ice age.
We've waited, you've had your chance, please close the door on your wait out and tell the next person to come in.

| I know what you mean about 'maverick' half backs.
Unfortunately I think nowadays a lot of the spontenaety has been 'coached out' by game plans.
In situation 'a' you do 'b,c,d,e or f'.
With the mavericks there was a 'g and h' spotted as te ball was recieved, but in todays game the fact the 'g' and 'h' wouldn't work out 50% of the time means that they'd give the opposition the advantage.
With 'a' to 'e' if it goes wrong it probably still means we get to keep the ball.
And I can imagine the rollocking the likes of Wane (Wigan working to a fairly fixed formula but doing it exceptionally well) would give the half for doing 'g' and 'h'.
Whoever follows Briers - it's a bit like Moyes following Fergie. Odds always against matching the same performance initially.
I like having the option of Bridge, Ratch and GOB in the halves.
GOB has the best kicking game
Bridge is so strong and now has the confidence to 'boss' the forwards about that he didn't have in his early 20's
Ratch has great versatility but I do see his best position being in the halves supporting with GOB or Bridge (although there's a strong case for f/b being his best position)
Myler really appears to be having a mare of a season to be honest. He's got to improve otherwise he won't be around after his current contract finishes. (And I honestly think he realizes that, but perhaps things are going on that we don't know about that's affecting his form).

| I don't think bridge can boss the forwards, or team, see the Widnes game, he ment missing in that, and couldn't generate any momentum, wasn't pushing the team around whatsoever.
Even when we were winning you didn't see much of him doing it.
