Lord Tony Smith: The state of our overseas recruitment is embarrassing; Zane Musgrove sat in the stands because he is garbage, Dan Russell hauled off because he's a pudding, Rodrick Tai sent to Widnes because he's unit and Lachlan Fitzgibbon is fast becoming a liability with injuries.
How hard is it to spot a good player? Other teams do it every year - apart from us.
Musgrove is infuriating. It all sounded so good when we signed him, didn't it? Powerhouse Samoan international, 6ft 4in, 17st 4lb, 78 NRL appearances, played alongside Burgess at the Rabbitohs, only 27 years old. I was genuinely excited when it was announced. But the reality, as so often with Wire, has been somewhat different, and we've ended up with a prop who has made about as much impact as a four-pack of Kestrel lager at a student party.
