But on the other hand I am a bit troubled by it. I am guessing that Sneyd was one of the top earners at Salford so we must have started this season with a sizeable gap in our salary cap which is a bit odd..
Maybe Sneyd's contract is back loaded with an increase in 2026 when we will have a lot of cap freed up?
I'm not sure that back loaded contracts are allowed within the cap rules. The player's cap value, whilst obviously linked to what we actually pay them, is agreed with the RFL. It prevents practices such as paying players a lower sallary whilst 'topping up' by employing their partner to work for the club etc.
I'm wondering whether some players may need to go out on permanent loan?
