Is it not about time a match official won something? An area of the game that is much maligned with everyone having an opinion yet not getting in the middle themselves?

How it can be a disgrace that someone who put themselves in the line of fire from those who know less can be awarded for quite a bit of commitment is beyond me.

Must admit though I agree with the Graham Bradley comment, it was an absolutely terrible decision when he was sent off in his final game, considering he didn't commit an offence worth sending off for. IMO Cummings was getting his own back but let us not forget what an absolute gobe Bradley had been with that mouth of his while playing over here. Not a good time for rugby league when the players openly questioned decisions and weren't dealt with. Definitely a problem that came from McCallum's decision that the refs should go first names with the players so I suppose the counter argument is that if the refs were trying to be matey with the players why shouldn't the players take advantage of it?

Anyway, nice to see the sport get an honour.

Our sport gets one and our immediate reaction is the deride the one honour we get, every 2 or 3 years. Of course we will snip but he has put a lot into the game before taking it on as a paid job and don't forget he was a ref before that was a full time job. Personally I'm not in favour of people getting paid for a job and then getting honour's, but lots of less deserving people earn a lot more money and get a lot of recognition for it without having contributed anything.
