| That is cringe worthy. Completely unfunny and unnecessary. Articles like that do nothing but harm to RL.

a. It is funny.....
b. It is necessary......and it's in a paper that has a fleeting relationship with any sport other than fox hunting, Cricket and Union....which leads to
3. It may get a few readers flicking on their TV's this weekend
d....did you see what I did there, because I doubt you actually read the article.
e. No publicity is bad publicity.

| Yes, I did read it. And I found most of it to be pathetic. Snidey chip on the shoulder stuff about rugby union. Let's all laugh at the fat kids that play rugby union. Hilarious? No, pathetic, sad and embarrassing.
Oh, boo hoo nobody has noticed that there's a RL world cup being played. More like they have noticed but they don't care. Just like the Aussies didn't care enough to even fill a 30000 stadium for a world cup match between Australia and England. England RU could get more than that for a game against Narnia.
I'm not going to let you and the pathetic Bill Burrows drag me into this crap though. You can both pat yourselves on the back at how amusing the article is. I think it's pathetic and I'm sure so will most people who like both codes of rugby and want both to be a success. Rugby union shouldn't even be getting a mention right now. They had their world cup two years ago.
Instead I'm going to be positive and get behind the England RL team and the fantastic players in that squad. They're my team and I'll support them just as I support England at football, cricket, rugby union and the rest. I've been watching those "five minutes you didn't see" videos. Absolutely superb. Watching O'Loughlin when Tonga almost scored that try late on. You could see how much it means to him and the others. I can't wait for Saturday morning.

| This was a hilarious send up of rugby union, and a promo for rugby league.
I hope that Prince Harry read it, and shares it with meritorious Meghan Markle.

| Isn't the main thrust of that article that RL is better than RU, but that it's not promoted properly - which is pretty much what is said on here on a weekly basis?
That said - it's not especially well written, but that's no terrific surprise given the paper it was published in.

| Mentality of a rugby league fan:
Someone associated with Rugby Union writes something in jest about Rugby League the uproar is unprecedented and they are compared to Charles Manson, AIDS, North Korea and the Conservative Party.
If someone associated with Rugby League writes something about rugby union its hilarious

I think that your love of this article shows your true colours.
The sneering establishment press, ridiculing anything that isnt from one of their public school chums.
Absolutely brilliant
And they say that there is no bias in the press and media against RL, it makes me want to vomit.
The irony is that Union takes League half back's onto their coaching staff.
Perhaps they need to learn what to do with the ball once in finally make it into open play.

| I liked it. I thought it was funny.
But anyone not interested in rugby won't read it and any Union fan will still think Union is better and that we have a chip.

People that love rugby union and hate league will just laugh at how pathetic the article is, while revelling in the fact that there is so little interest in the RLWC.
People like me who enjoy both codes will just shake their heads at the unnecessary barbs and snide words about rugby union.
There seems to be a certain amount of delusion with some RL fans. It's as if they can't understand why anyone who has seen or heard about RL hasn't immediately fallen in love with it and become fans like themselves. Their inability to accept this leads them to assume that it's all down to bad marketing and promotion. I hate to burst their bubble but a lot of people know about RL but just don't have any interest in it. And it doesn't matter how many times you list the reasons why you think RL is great and why they should be interested in it, they're still going to make up their own minds and unfortunately most people don't seem that interested.

You may be right, perhaps people are not interested in RL.
However, IF the establishment and the Tory press were ever to get behind the sport and portray RL in a positive light, it would certainly help.
You talk about "unnecessary barbs and snide words" and yet you are happy to condone yet another article that smears our sport and laughs at those involved.
If this was a one of article, when they (The Torygraph) usually printed any form of balanced coverage of the sport, I may agree with you.
If we are happy with this stuff, we deserve to be set a pariah's, never quite having been forgiven for breaking away in 1895.
It's obviously ok for them to give wall to wall coverage of meaningless Union friendlies (the Autumn series) and yet ignore and belittle "the other code".
